". . . Lise Winne has taken a mix of traditionals and self-penned tunes (which sound like traditionals) and an assortment of acoustic instruments--along with her own gorgeous voice--and put together an impressive 11-song CD.
The simple, understated 'Shady Grove' starts things off and Winne's expressive vocals just soar.
Her slow, luxurious take on Donovan's 'Catch the Wind', is captivating and her spirited reading of Mother Maybelle Carter's 'Wildwood Flower' is as down-home, front porch as it gets.
Winne's own upbeat 'The World Is Weaving Me' is stocked with fiddles and feels like a one-song hootenannny.
The dramatic title track, also written by Winne, is simply lovely.
Winne recalls early Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, but her sound is actually older--it's ancient, timeless. . ."
